Hi everyone, I am new to this forum. As a matter of fact, this is my very first post ever. So forgive me if I am a little wordy in my post.
I am knitting a shawl. I've got the main part done. I am starting on the edging except I am totally stumped.
The pattern: cast on 19 sts on dpns. knit 1 row. knit 2nd row to the last st, sl 1 with yarn in back, pick up 1 st through edge st of shawl, turn work. Row 1: k2tog, k3, (yo, ssk, k1) twice, k2tog, yo, k1, yo, ssk, k1, k2tog, yo, k and p in last st.
The questions are: 1) does that mean I will have 20 sts on my dpns after picking up the edge stitch? 2) is there a stitch called k and p or do they mean k1 and p1? 3) if I were to repeat (yo, ssk, k1) twice, and k1 and p1 in the last st, I will need 21 stitches, which made me think that k and p is in fact one stitch.
I am grateful to anyone who can shed light on this. I am going grey by the minute.
