Okay...for those of you who don't like to knit with acrylics because they mess up your hands...don't try knitting with plastic, either.
I am currently in the middle of a recycling project/birthday gift and after just a few inches, I am seriously reconsidering.
I am cutting up grocery sacks into long stips and attaching the strips to each other and then knitting with the "yarn" this creates. I am making a large tote bag for my mom for her birthday...she is obsessed with beach bags, and this would be a dandy.
Meanwhile, it's got a weird texture and it sticks a bit to the needles. The fabric it is creating is incredibly strong and has a nice "give" though. I am going to like the finished project...if I can just hang in there!
Has anyone else done this before? Or am I crazy?
