I thought it was really cute too, and I also thought it would be great for an older baby (for my 2½ year old...yeah, I know...she's not a "baby" anymore:verysad: ). Locating hats in her size in stores seems to be an impossible task...I guess I'm an "old school" mom about my babies' heads being covered in the wind and summer sun. :teehee: It's really a practical idea, but I just couldn't see spending $27 on the kit; the crochet kit is a cotton/acrylic blend yarn...not exactly 100% pure silk or Malabrigo or any yarn that would justify the $27 pricetag)
Becky, was [this](http://www.patternworks.com/image_zoom.aspx?IMAGE=~/products/parts/800100.jpg&NAME=KOIGU NECK COZY PATTERN) like the neck warmer you had? Patternworks has a pattern for these free if you buy one skein of Koigu, which I didn't think was bad...$14 for a 100% merino hand-painted wool beautiful "Neck Cozy". If you buy the Koigu yarn from them, you just request pattern # 800100 and it's free with the yarn purchase. I'd sure LOVE to make one, but I honestly don't know what colorway to choose; truly, every one of them is so beautiful to me.
knitncook, I didn't understand what you meant by doing a "double knit" on the flap...can you please explain it a little more? I agree that it looked pretty easy, which is another reason why I couldn't figure out why it should cost $27.
