I watched the I-cord video and am wondering if I can make it using my circular needles? I don't have DPNs the same size as I was using for the Booga Bag. How would this work with DPNs?
Sure you can! Any needle that has a point at each end will work perfectly. Go ahead.
Do I have to slide the cord all the way down to the other needle each time? If my bag was knit with 10.5 could I do my I-cord with 8 DPNs? That's the largest I have.
Give it a try on the 8's and see if you like the size of it. I've done i-cord on circs and you can do it, but it's a pain because you have to slide the stitches further, but it's not impossible.
Oh, the DPN needle size won't make much of a difference, then. But, yes, you would have to slide it all the way down the circular. Like Jan said, try it on the size 8's and it should work fine.
It'lll be a big pain in the arse to slide it that far every 8 seconds. I'd buy a set of DPNs just to fix the hassle! Or, use straights, and slip the stitches from the right needle back to the left needle, easier than sliding along the circ I reckon.
