I think you are cutting the wool and reattaching it a few stitches further along the row where you start doing something different. You could tie the wool onto the place where you need to start again and then untie the knot to weave in the end later. I often find it helpful to attach a safety pin to the knitted fabric and tie the wool to that.
When you cut, leave a long-enough tail to weave in later, don't cut it close to the knitting.
