So, I've almost finished a nice little summer cardigan, and it's looking like I'm going to end up with one skein of Blue Sky Dyed Cotton (in pickle) left. I've been eyeing this pattern for a while: http://www.magknits.com/feb06/patterns/odessa.htm
If I make adjustments to the pattern for gauge, can I knit a hat in cotton yarn? I know it's not as stretchy as wool, but will that make it un-wearable?
i would think it would be perfectly wearable! i am making topi (from knitty.com) in Louisa Harding Nautical Cotton. the only thing i think you have to worry about is it stretching when worn, because cotton doesn't have the same strechy/memory wool has. but a quick wash when it's too stretched should bring it back to shape
I did Odessa as kind of a slouch hat, instead of the fitted beanie type, though in an acrylic, because I like them looser. You can always try it out and see how it works up, only takes a few hours to make.
