Rowan Polar is WONDERFUL! So far, I made a red aran afghan using Polar...and I also made an icy blue suit: a long cabled cardigan and st st seamless skirt (elastic waistband) and tam/beret!
I have not laundered either one so far. I don't wear the icy blue sweater suit that often. Here is a "hint" Elsebeth Lavold gave us in her class about Viking Knits: She said "don't wash knits all the time...they aren't ususally 'soiled' at all...BUT before you fold them up to put them away...let them 'air out' on a flat surface overnight to 'dry'...this allows any body heat & moisture to dissipate...then fold it up the next morning and put it away". She believes in 'airing' her knits...rather than washing the tar out of them.
I guess practicality of her advice really depends on your body type, too. And if you are wearing the knit over a blouse or shirt...and if you are odorous.
The sweater suit has absolutely no pilling.
The afghan has some itsy bitsy pills on the edge of the ruffle. I was snipping them off last night as a matter of fact!
