Shandeh, I'm making some scarves too. I found this 'skinny scarf' pattern last year and made a few light and fluffy spring/fall weight scarves for a friend. They knit up real fast because you start with 3 stitches, knit 10 rows, inc 1, knit 10 rows, inc 1, knit 10 rows....until you have 20 stitches on needle; then you reverse and dec 1, knit 10 rows until down to 3 stitches again. It's kinda fun!
but now I've decided to try the skinny pattern with bulky yarn....not sure I"m liking it yet, but may persist to the middle at least.
This is what the summer version looks like:(it would be great to wear to Christmas parties).

165 YARDS NOVELTY YARN LIKE EROS, CHARM OR FLORA
Cast on 3 sts,
Knit 10 Rows.
Mark the right edge as the increase side, all increases are made on the same side.
* Increase row: K1, KFB next st, knit to end.
Knit 9 Rows.
Repeat from * until 20 sts are on needle.
Begin Decreasing as follows:
** Decrease row: K1, K2TOG, knit to end.
Knit 9 Rows.
Repeat from ** until 3 sts remain.
Bind off loosely.
