I'm in Minnesota visiting my daughter and on the road trip from Colorado I managed to stop and two Nebraska shops and one in Sioux Falls, SD. Ok yes I spent too much money. I got the Jojoland Autumn Shawl pattern and yarn but I've NEVER done entrelac and am a bit confused. http://www.jojoland.com/do/item/Select?topIndex=1&itemID=%0D%0Ap-8-m09-01&subIndex=2I'm to cast on 200. The first row group is 25 triangles. Row 1 (rs) k 1, turnrow2: Pl, turn and for all wrong side rows, purl the SAME NUMBER of sts as you knit in the previous row. row3: sl, kl, turnrow 4, DO I PURL 2 because of the slip or just PURL 1?NEXT question - Do you that knit entrelac turn all the time or do you purl backwards?:hair:
For R 4 you would p2, the slip st is counted as a stitch. Many people do knit backward, I didn't find it all that much easier than turning, but I was only working across 30 some stitches, not 200.
Isn't entrelac that formula stuff they give babies? :??
Remind me to be aware and cautious when asking Mason a question LOL ....
I just finished an entrelac project and I used the knitting backward method. I liked it better instead of all the turning. I was making a scarf and I did to a little turning at the very beginning and very ends of the rows, but not for each individual diamond section. If you don't know how to knit backward, here is a great link to a YouTube video on how to do it.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vT-u3MBGFtIEntrelac is actually very easy once you get the general idea down. Good luck and I can't wait to see your finished shawl. The pattern is very nice.
I just posted another entrelac question but maybe you gals can answer it for me. I've done the cast on and the 25 triangles. Now I'm suppose to pick up stitches purlwise with the WS showing and the yarn is in the front of the WS. I know how to pick up knitwise but I must be dense or something because I'm not totally sure what I'm really suppose to do. DO I come in from the back to the front and purl? pulling the purl back through to the front side????? Grrr - I really dislike being so unsure of myself.
I answered the other post. Yes, that's how you do it.
Thanks April. I'm heading back home to Colorado next week and I think I'll stop in Sioux Falls, SD where I bought the yarn and pattern and join the gals on their Thursday night knit and bitch. Of the three shops I stopped at on my trip to MN I like the shop in Sioux Falls the most. I'm at the part in the pattern where I need to pick up stitches from the triangles to make retangles and I'm suppose to pick up stitches purlwise. I can pick up stitches knitwise but haven't tried purlwise and it seems rather strange so maybe I'll wait until I get to Sioux Falls - although Suzeeq confirmed what I thought I had to do.
