I am thinking about making a cotton sweater for my boyfriend based on an old sweater he had and loved but its now too old.
The original sweater is 100% cotton and he asked me to make the new one also in cotton. The sweater has cables on the front and the sleeves, and the back is ribbed. The size is XL.
I was going to make it on the round (with some modifications on the shoulders) because I'm afraid of seaming :aww:
However, I read that cotton sweaters should be knitted flat because they tend to stretch and the seams give them structure and prevent stretching from happening. Is this so? Is there another way to avoid stretching?
Any suggestions regarding creating my own pattern from a real sweater, or seaming are more than welcome!
